Socks with tomatoes
There are things that need to ripen to become themselves. A tomato pretends to be green all summer long. It sits quietly on the bush, puts on a good face, and doesn’t bother anyone. And then one morning - it’s just ready. For years, it was told it was a vegetable. Then someone checked and found out it was actually a fruit. Then someone else checked again and stopped being sure of anything. The tomato listened to all this, nodded its head, and decided it was tired of being labeled. Now it’s aiming for a drawer - preferably the one in your dresser.
